About CTRL + H

Most genealogy work is about connecting names and dates — one person to the next. CTRL + H is about what happened in between. I call this investigative genealogy.

With a background in libraries and archives and 20+ years of genealogy research, I know how records work — how they’re created, how they’re kept, and how to find the ones that aren’t easy to find. That’s the foundation.

Every case starts with a question and ends in a story, one that places a real person inside the broader history they actually lived through. That means going beyond the census and the vital records — into union archives, business records, newspapers, church records, fraternal orders, property records, and wherever else the evidence leads. Because the story is rarely in one place.

Finding the human story between the dates isn’t just a slogan. It’s the whole job.
